Tayrona Park will be closed for 15 days

From June 1 to 15 it will not be possible to access Tayrona Park. This is the second closure this year.

As reported at the beginning of 2022, Tayrona National Natural Park closes its doors to visitors and tourists from June 1 to 15, 2022 to give the ecosystem a break. During this time, the indigenous peoples of the Sierra Nevada perform rituals to Mother Earth.

This closure is the second of three scheduled during the year, which correspond to special dates agreed with the indigenous peoples of the Sierra Arhuaco, Kankuamo, Kogui and Wiwa to allow the restoration of their ecosystem.

The ecosystem of the park, during these days has a respite, as well as its beaches, and species. Orlando Molano, director of National Parks, said that the park’s ecosystem has a respite during these days, as well as its beaches and species, and respect for the culture and traditions of the indigenous people of the area to perform their pagamentos (spiritual rituals).

In turn, the park rangers will implement recovery work in the area and actions aimed at strengthening relations in the territory and strengthening strategies for the safety of visitors, as well as monitoring and control of the benefits of this measure to the values under protection in the park.

“From National Parks, we invite tourists to plan their trips to other areas of the country, currently, 23 natural parks are open to ecotourism, in which they can perform various activities, among which stand out: bird watching, trekking, careteo and others,” said Orlando Molano, director of PNNC.

The next closure is scheduled from October 19 to November 2, 2022.
