Close to the Snow-Covered Mountain Range of Santa Marta | Heart of the World
Taganga is a district of Santa Marta, Magdalena, Colombia. It is made up of a town on the shores of the bay of the same name whose traditional activity has been fishing, although recently tourism has gained great prominence. Access is possible by road from the center of Santa Marta.
La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is an isolated mountain range in northern Colombia, separate from the Andes range that runs through the north of the country. Some Colombians, such as the Kogui Indians, believe that this mountain is “The Heart of the World” and that they are the “Older Brothers” who care for it. Gonawindúa or Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is the highest coastal mountain in the world. Just 42 km | 26 miles from the beaches are the snow-capped peaks of Colón and Bolívar, with 5,775 and 5,560 meters above sea level.

A sculpture built by the master Rodrigo Arenas Betancourth, in honor of all the founders of Pereira, it represents all the peasants who fought for their independence and hegemony of the Antioquian and Caucan land, demonstrating their worth and love for this land which has commemorated their battle and their effort in the form of art, Pereira and Prometheus are considered the protective titan of human civilization.
